Two-Part Clarinet Shorts

Two-part clarinet shorts (not clothes - think Disney digital shorts... but for two-part clarinet!) include practice packets that focus on how to play and practice certain passages. I encourage students to learn both parts to these shorts! Linked to my blog is my teacherspayteachers page, where you can download these shorts and let the fun begin!

Louie

Louie is a series of shorts that invokes the imagery of my cat's life. Each short comes with its own focus. This series of shorts gets more difficult with each movement.

I. Louie the Cat - Movement 1 is like Louie's theme song. This movement introduces fluttertonguing (to replicate a purr), has different articulations, pinpoints chromatic fingerings, and focuses on switching the role of melody and accompaniment.

II. Louie's Nap - Movement II is based off of Erik Satie's Gymnopedie No. 1. It's reflective, calm, and one of my favorite compositions ever written. So, naturally, I thought it would be a good fit for my cat and his sleeping habits! This short isn't technically difficult, but its focus is: tone, intonation, balance, and dynamic usage. It's great for building fine musicianship in young players.

III. Dancing With Prey - Movement III depicts the spicy dance of predator (Louie, my totally harmless cat) and prey (usually a receipt or napkin that Louie finds laying around). This movement is a tango, and includes: fluttertonguing, chromaticism, rhythmic independence, syncopation, and a few 16th notes.

IV. Louie's Chase (for the Yarn) - This movement is written and will be released soon!
V. Louie's Dream - This movement is written and will be released soon!

 UFO

UFO is a series of shorts that deal with a UFO and the tiny green aliens that operate it.

I. Night Sky (The Stars are Dancing) - This movement is written and will be released soon!
